Tiny Creatures, Big Importance
With May in bloom and summer just around the corner, bugs and backyard critters are becoming more active, and that’s something to celebrate.
Inspired by the children’s books There’s a Mouse at My House and There’s a Bug on My Rug, this is a wonderful time to remind children that even the smallest creatures play an important role in our ecosystem.
Bees and butterflies help pollinate plants, other critters enrich soil, and insects provide food for birds and other wildlife. From gardens to forests, these tiny creatures help keep nature in balance.
As children begin spotting more bugs this season, encourage curiosity and kindness. Instead of seeing bugs and critters as pests, we can help children understand they are living things with an important purpose.
This May, read a story, explore outdoors, and celebrate the little creatures that help our world thrive, because even the tiniest critters make a big difference.
