  1. 4 Simple Tips For Healthy Summer Skin

4 Simple Tips For Healthy Summer Skin

It’s summertime and the living’s easy. Whether you’re headed to the beach or simply enjoying the weather in your own backyard, if you want to maintain healthy skin this summer, you must be proactive. The Jersey Shore Cosmetics team offers endless products to keep all areas of your body protected during the warm-weather months and beyond. Below, we’re including some ways in which you can keep your skin looking and feeling its best this season and always.

    Lather on the SPF

After spending the winter months trapped inside, once we get a taste of the sun, we want to spend as much time in it as possible. However, the sun’s UVA and UVB rays can do a number on your skin if left unprotected. Our Sans Tan Anti-Aging Mineral Sunscreen contains UVA/UVB broad-spectrum protection with an SPF 30. It is dermatologist recommended, safe for all skin tones and types, contains anti-aging properties, with no banned or toxic ingredients and is even safe for all marine life! With the added bonus of aloe vera leaf juice and hyaluronic acid, applying this sunscreen will leave your skin feeling hydrated and refreshed. It’s true that big things come in small packages and this product certainly proves it.

Bonus Tip: Don’t let your past skincare routine, or lack thereof, get in the way of giving your skin and hair a healthy future it deserves. It’s never too late to begin protecting yourself, while simultaneously repairing the damage that’s been done. Invest in a conditioner like this, to provide your hair with the moisture and hydration it craves. Over time, you will find your hair to be softer and stronger which is all the more reason to protect it!

    Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!

Between trips to the beach and hanging out poolside, it’s likely you’ll be spending a lot of time in and around the water this summer season. However, if you’re not keeping up your H2O intake, your skin, and other parts of your body, will surely feel the effects. When it comes to consumption, the common recommendation is eight, eight-ounce glasses per day. This can vary from person to person and may need to be upped, especially in warmer temperatures. Drinking an adequate amount of water is essential to maintaining healthy skin, but it doesn’t stop there. Did you know dehydration affects brain function, digestion, and low blood pressure? It can also affect your mood, appetite, and quality of sleep. Constantly on the go, or on the tennis court, consider clean bottled spring water like Quattro H2O Pure Hydration Natural Spring Water to help you stay on track. For those who are more active, there’s Quattro H2O Pure Energy Caffeinated Pure Spring Water with 100 mg. of natural caffeine.

    Don’t Forget to Moisturize

At times it may feel like a chore, but applying moisturizer to all areas of the body plays a large role in keeping your skin healthy. This becomes especially important following exposure to the sun. Much like your organs need water in order to function, your skin needs this same level of hydration. Some areas of the skin require more attention than others, and at times this can mean applying a range of products. If you’re the kind of person who likes to keep things simple, our Super Sativa Whole Body Butter is the perfect solution for you. This body butter is nourishing and gentle enough to be used on all parts of the body, yet hydrating enough to clear up those rough patches on areas like the knees and elbows. For best results, exfoliate with our African Black Soap Gentle Face and Body Scrub, then apply body butter directly after your bath or shower in order to lock in maximum hydration.

    Go Faux

Aside from a UVA/UVB blocking sunscreen, the best way to protect your skin from the sun is to stay out of it. While this may sound impossible, especially during the summer months, with a little effort, it can be done. Small steps, such as wearing a hat, dressing in fuller coverage clothing, sitting under an umbrella at the beach or by the pool, or making an effort to be in shaded areas whenever possible, are all great ways to escape a majority of the harmful rays given off by the sun. If these ideas sound great to you, but you’re concerned about missing out on sun-kissed skin, you’re in luck! Our Safe Tan, Tan Enhance, Hydrating Sunless Tanning Concentrate will give you the glow you’re looking for without the risk of over-exposure or skin damage. This lotion concentrate is added to your favorite face, and or body lotion and includes all-natural, vegan ingredients such as aloe-leaf and hyaluronic acid work on all skin tones, and even contains an anti-aging element. The result is a natural-looking tan, and if desired, a few more drops can be added for a deeper, richer tan.

Skin is our body’s largest organ and it’s essential we protect it. During the summer months, in particular, our skin is exposed to a number of elements, the sun’s rays being one of the most damaging. With the proper application of an SPF, along with staying hydrated, moisturizing properly, and accepting that sometimes it’s just better to stay out of the sun altogether, you can maintain healthy skin this summer and many more to come.

Self-Care Tips for Healthy Summer Skin

The days are getting longer, and the weather is warming up which only means one thing, summer is almost here! If you’ve been cooped up inside all winter, it’s likely you’re eager to get out and enjoy all the activities this season brings. When doing so, it is essential to keep your health and wellness in mind. Below, we’ve compiled a summer self-care guide to help you make the most of your time spent outdoors while keeping yourself safe from the elements you are bound to encounter.

    Lather on the SPF

In the winter, we tend to wear more clothing, so our skin has little to no exposure to the sun and its harmful rays. Once the weather heats up and we start shedding layers, we’re much more susceptible to burn if we don’t use proper protection. Our Sans Tan Mineral Safe Sunscreen with SPF 50 designed with all skin tones in mind, is not only anti-aging but also vegan and cruelty-free. Inversely, if you’re someone who prefers to stay out of the sun all year round, but you’re still looking for glowing skin, try our Safe Tan Hydrating Self-Tanning Lotion. It's developed with the same age fighting formula as our other products, this hydrating lotion provides a radiant, natural-looking tan without the risk of damaging your skin.

    Protect Your Mouth

You may know that too much exposure to sunlight damages the skin, but did you know that it can also trigger breakouts such as cold sores? This in combination with any stress you may be feeling, acidic foods you’re eating, or the dreaded summer cold may result in an unwanted breakout. To maintain your mouth during the summer months, use our Super Sativa Medicinal Hydrating Balm, packed with nutrient-rich cannabis Sativa oils, hydrating coconut oil and vitamin E. When it comes to cold sores and other breakouts, taking the necessary steps to be proactive will help to keep your symptoms at bay. However, if you do experience a breakout opt for a prescription cold sore aid for fast relief.

    Stay Hydrated

Keeping up on your fluid intake during the summer months is crucial to maintain the proper hydration levels your body needs to function correctly. Water is the best choice when it comes to hydration and drinking enough has a positive effect on your skin as well. In addition to the recommended eight glasses of water a day, give your skin an extra boost with our Moisture Rich Hydrating Vanilla Body Butter. Formulated with fair trade shea butter, argan oils and pure vanilla, this hydrating butter is a real treat for your skin. For best results, use immediately after a bath or shower to lock in moisture on still damp skin.

Bonus Tip: If you want to get some extra hydration in through the foods you consume, try adding a cup of watermelon a day to your diet. Watermelon has a 92% water content, is low in calories and rich in vitamin C, A, and magnesium.

Summer will be here before you know it and the only question you must ask yourself is, “Am I doing everything I can to protect my skin?” If the answer is no, head over to our sunscreen page and check out the products, we have to offer to best protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays!

Hawaii legislators approved a bill  last year that would ban the sunscreen containing the ingredients oxybenzone and octinoxate, an ingredient in 3,500+ of the world’s most popular brands that has been linked to the death of coral reefs.

“Amazingly, this is a first-in-the-world law,” said Gabbard in an e-mail. “So, Hawaii is definitely on the cutting edge by banning these dangerous chemicals in sunscreens. When you think about it, our island paradise, surrounded by coral reefs, is the perfect place to set the gold standard for the world to follow. This will make a huge difference in protecting our coral reefs, marine life, and human health.”

Key West voted late to ban the sale of sunscreens containing certain chemicals linked to coral reef bleaching. The ban is set to go into effect Jan. 1, 2021.

The Key West City Commission voted 6-1 to ban the sale, within city limits, of sunscreens that contain oxybenzone or octinoxate, the Miami Herald reports. Some studies have linked the chemicals to cellular damage in coral reefs. But industry officials challenged the ban, saying the link between the chemicals and coral bleaching isn't proven.

Only one living coral reef exists in North America, and it lives about 6 miles off the Keys. "We have one reef, and we have to do one small thing to protect that," said Mayor Teri Johnston. "It's our obligation."

  7. The Real Saint Behind Valentine's Day

The Real Saint Behind Valentine's Day

Nowadays, the premise of Valentine’s Day is simple to understand: Feb. 14 is a time to show appreciation for friends, families, significant others and anyone else you might love. Pinpointing the story of its namesake Saint Valentine, however, is more difficult.

There are multiple legends of Saint Valentine, and different reliquaries in the Czech Republic, Ireland, Scotland, England and France all claim to have bones attributed to a Saint Valentine.

While Catholics believe that Feb. 14 commemorates the martyrdom of Saint Valentine, who was a Roman priest beheaded in the third century, no one can agree on exactly what he did or why he was executed. Some legends say Valentine was a bishop in Terni, Italy, who healed the sick, including the blind daughter of a prison guard whom he met while in jail for practicing Christianity in a pagan world. Some say he was sentenced to death because he tried to convert Emperor Claudius to Christianity. Others say the sentence came because he was caught secretly performing weddings, defying a ban on marriage that had been imposed by the Emperor as a solution to a military recruitment crunch.

  9. Understanding CBD

    Understanding CBD
In the cannabis plant, CBD and THC generally have an inverse relationship: The more THC there is, the less CBD, and vice versa. In recent years, growers have bred some plants to contain high levels of CBD. Some say the two compounds work synergistically and that for many ailments, combining CBD and THC is best. What makes CBD especially appealing is that it doesn’t get the user high. Most recreational marijuana users want this effect, of course, but many patients would rather avoid it. This has allowed CBD to sidestep many of the political, legal and medical concerns that have hindered the spread of medical marijuana. Our CBD gummies Relax Bears can promote relief after the gym, a long night out, and any other situation in between which is why they now come in practical on-the-go packages that can be taken with you wherever you go. Like all Green Roads items in our collection, our gummies are made with pure CBD extracted from industrial hemp cultivated in the United States. All our products have been formulated by a licensed pharmacist with decades of experience in the industry and have been lab tested to ensure potency and purity. NOTE: Consult your physician before taking any new dietary supplements. Must be 18+ years older to consume. sec; In the past 10 years, scientists have concluded that CBD may be quite useful. Dozens of studies have found evidence that the compound can treat epilepsy as well as a range of other illnesses, including anxiety, schizophrenia, heart disease, and cancer. “CBD has been a game-changer for medical marijuana,” says Martin Lee, the director of Project CBD, a Northern California nonprofit that promotes the use of the compound. “Its safety and lack of psychoactivity undermine any argument that it should be illegal. It’s really shifted the national discussion on this issue.” As more scientists recognize the compound’s potential, there has been an “explosion of research,” according to Pal Pacher, a pharmacologist, and cardiologist at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda. He has been studying the chemical for more than a decade; his work has shown that CBD may have benefits in both heart disease and diabetes. One key area of CBD research is epilepsy. Several scientists are focusing on its potential to reduce seizures, especially among those for whom other treatments have failed. “We’ve found significant positive effects with CBD,” says New York University neurologist Orrin Devinsky, who studies the compound for severe childhood epilepsy.
